Evolution of the Butterfly
Starting with a simple design years ago these things have evolved in ways I could have never imagined. Now after a few more modifications a new form of butterfly has taken shape. Using tube cane and making the wings hollow helped me to create a much more complex pattern on the wings. The top two wings are bridged with a small piece of clear so that the butterfly can hang nice and center. Hollow wings also make the piece much lighter too. I'm excited to see how these guys will continue to change.
Its that time of year again.
Fall seems to have blown by very quickly here in central NY. Whether we are ready for it or not, winter is coming. I am already finding myself firing up both torches early in the morning to get the studio up to temperature. Not having the luxury of a heated studio, I found myself thinking about actually building one. I have spent too many years in cold garages trying to stay warm and prevent anything I was working on from cracking. For the amount of money spent on costly propane to keep my current studio warm all winter, I could use that money to build a much more efficient studio. One that can stand up to a Rochester winter. In the long run I'm hoping to save some money and stay much warmer this winter.
Tons of pendants are beginning to pile up. I chose to post some of my favorites. I wish I had the time to post them all. All pendants are for sale. If your interested please contact me.
Snails Snails Snails! Snails are usually the result of another failed project. Windfalls some say. If all else fails I can usually turn it into a snail. They have a lot of character for such a small package.
